Baseline Study for the “Virtual Cooperative” Project Has Commenced
The “Virtual Cooperative” project of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry aims to improve the livelihoods of herders in remote areas of Mongolia through digital technology. The project will be implemented between 2025 and 2027.
Within the framework of the project, herders will be able to collaborate, share information, access financial services, and participate effectively in the market through the virtual cooperative platform.
IRIM is conducting the baseline study for the newly launched “Virtual Cooperative” project.
The study is being conducted with a sample of herder households in 9 soums across 5 aimags.
The implementation of the Virtual Cooperative project is expected to bring the following positive changes to the lives of herders:
Improved access to digital platforms, training, information, and public services
Enhanced quality of wool and cashmere, leading to more effective market participation
Improved livelihoods and capacity of herders as a result of the project
The results of the baseline study will be used to assess whether these outcomes have been achieved.
